What You Need to Know Before You Visit
What are Giesenbräu Bier Co.'s taproom hours?
Our taproom in New Prague, MN is open Tuesday through Thursday from 3:00 PM to 9:00 PM, Friday and Saturday from 12:00 PM to 10:00 PM, and Sunday from 12:00 PM to 6:00 PM. We are closed on Mondays. Hours can shift around holidays or special events, so checking our social pages before you head out is always a good idea. We are always happy to see you when the doors are open. What kinds of bier do you serve, and how many taps do you have?
We pour up to 15 taps at any given time, covering both our flagship styles and rotating seasonal offerings. Our core lineup includes Hildy's Helles, a 1st Place MN Brewers Cup Munich Lager; the Giesen Weisse Hefeweizen; Spaceballs the Milk Stout; the 31 Hour Pale Ale; Bavarian Gangsta, our German IPA; and the Frickin Scruggly Double IPA. We also pour a Radler and non-alcoholic options, so there is genuinely something for everyone. Our philosophy is simple: bier flavored beer, brewed with traditional German methods and a whole lot of care. Are kids and dogs allowed at the taproom?
Yes to both. Giesenbräu has always been a welcoming space for the whole family, kids included. If you are bringing your four-legged friend, dogs are welcome in the biergarten and taproom as long as they are kept on a 6-foot leash. We want everyone, furry or otherwise, to feel at home here. It is one of the things that makes our taproom a true community gathering spot in New Prague.Do you offer non-alcoholic options for guests who do not drink?
Absolutely. We know not everyone at the table is drinking, and we do not want anyone to feel left out. Non-alcoholic options are available at the taproom, making Giesenbräu a comfortable stop for designated drivers, sober-curious guests, or anyone who just wants to enjoy the atmosphere without the alcohol. Good company and a great space are worth the trip on their own.Can I rent a private space for an event at the brewery?
Yes. The Werner Giesen Bierstube is our private event space, available for corporate gatherings, birthday parties, grooms dinners, fundraisers, and more. The base rental is $200 for 4 hours, with an additional hour included for setup and takedown. The space holds up to 75 guests and comes equipped with tables, chairs, a PA system, projector, Chromecast and HDMI hookup, 14 electrical outlets, and garbage and recycling service. Longer rentals are available at an additional cost. All inquiries are handled through the Werner Giesen Bierstube Inquiry Form.Is there food available at Giesenbräu?
We do not have an on-site kitchen, but we have a rotating schedule of food trucks on Fridays and Saturdays. Outside of food truck days, you are welcome to carry in food or order delivery to enjoy with your bier. It is a flexible setup that works well for most visits, and on Friday nights the combination of fresh bier, food trucks, and our weekly Meat Raffle makes for a solid evening out. What regular events does Giesenbräu host throughout the week?
We run a solid lineup of weekly programming to keep things lively. Wednesdays feature The Initials Game Live, Thursdays are Trivia Mafia nights, and Fridays include Meat Raffles. On a monthly basis, we host Sunday Steins and Polka Time, which has become a real community favorite. We also anchor the calendar with bigger annual events like Oktoberfest, held the first Friday and Saturday of October, and Brew Prague, our local craft beer festival. There is always something going on here. Can I take bier home, and how does that work?
Yes, we offer bier to-go options including crowlers so you can bring a taste of Giesenbräu home with you. It is a great way to stock up on a flagship like Hildy's Helles or grab something from the rotating taps. You can check the current tap list via Brewbill to see what is pouring before you make the trip. To-go options are available during regular taproom hours.
